15 cans of this:

And I ended up with this:

rear quarter panel repair also came out great:

The paint job isn't perfect and those pics are when it looks good. I have some uneven striping on the hood that I might try and fix but other than that, painting is for the most part done.

Now lets see what the next excuse is for me to not do the cage yet...

holy cow, what a change! I have to say I liked the Patriot Blue, but the new Desert Tan looks pretty darn good as well. I'm almost thinking you should paint the winch to match.

I agree with Jason, the red winch looks a little out of place. Besides, it one more thing you could do to postpone your cage project. The Desert Tan looks really good!

Final coat on anything other than gloss paint doesn't need to be sanded, the whole purpus of wet sanding to to get a smooth finish then buff/wax for a super slick shine. On something like an ultra flat finnish, you just spray it and be done leaving a nice even dull finish, sanding it would basically leave scratchs in the patern of however you saneded it(up/down, side/side, circular).

BTW Looks good Eric, what collor are you planning on painting your cage now? ultra flat brown or another desert color would be cool.

The cage will be black. I did consider, for a moment, what it would be like with the body in Desert Tan and the bumpers, sliders, cage etc all in OD Green. I'm not sure I've seen that before. Its too much work to do all that though. After all, I'm supposed to be working on my cage!

Now, the question is: Will you be more upset or less upset about scratches and dents?

It won't show the scratches as bad so there will be less to get upset about. And I can always touch it up myself whenever I feel the need.
