Hello, I just recently bought a jeep. A 1988 Cherokee Pioneer that when I bought it was vomiting rusty coolant through the cap and hoses. I replaced the entire cooling system(Radiator, water pump, therm, hoses, overflow tank, valves and connectors) with mostly stock parts. I was debating on switching to the 92 or newer system and did much research through these forums on the over heating issues of the jeep. Thanks to the many people who have posted on here and who have told their stories of fixing over heating problems I was able to make a decision on how to fix the cooling system in the 88 cherokee. I am sticking with the closed pressure system but have replaced everything that it involves. The jeep is now running great, right at 210 and not too much higher when climbing hills. I live on top of a mountain in northern Cali and the summers are hot here, quite often over 100 degrees but the jeep is doing great with the closed pressure cooling system so far. I had to let air out of the closed system but that was easily done with instructions from these forums as well. So again, thank you EVERYBODY who has posted on these forums, your words help many people in fixing problems with their beloved jeeps! I have wanted a jeep for over ten years and now I have one! They are great and so is this forum! Thank you all!!!!!
