Stuck in part time!! Help!!!

I've got a 90 Limited with the selec-trac system. I recently lost the front driver's wheel going about 45 on the highway (damn you discount tire), and the whole truck fell on the front left brake rotor. I've inspected the entire front end, and replaced the rotor(had a flat spot 4in long). Now, I've got it all back together again, and I can't get the transfer case out of part-time 4wd. The transfer case selector is in 2wd(all the way forward), but the part time light on the dash is lit up, and it's driving like it's in 4wd. I haven't gotten it out on the road yet, for fear of REALLY screwing something up. But this is my DD, and I gotta get it working again? Ideas on the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

that seems wierd. Is it the np231 tcase? I know mine wouldnt shift out of 4wd until i torqued the yokes down to 150- ft lbs. Only thing i could think of for you is maybe the linkage got loose? get under there and check it out.

Check the adjustment on the linkage or possibly the linkage it's self. The shock may have bent something.

It's the NP242 case.

check the vaccum switch on the tcase itself. or maybe some vaccum lines were distrupted.

If nothing was disrupted, check the fluid in the Tcase. If it's dirty and/or low, change it. Mine had the same problem (stuck in Part-Time, wouldn't go into Full-Time or 2WD, only 4HI and 4-LOW). All I did was change the fluid in the Tcase, now it works fine.

If it's a daily driver and you need it fixed NOW, just pull the front driveshaft out and worry about it later.
