Stripping Chrome
I have some Pacer steelies I want to strip the rusting chrome off so I can rattle-can them black. I don't need a show car finish, just want the paint to stick well. Whats the best way to get the chrome off? I probably wont be able to do electro-dips, etc.

Honestly, I would recommend taking them somewhere that you could get them bead blasted. It shouldn't cost to much, and it will clean them up the best.

I was actually told bead won't remove chrome very well. Too smooth?

I have beadblasted rusty chrome before, and painted it and it turned out just fine. In my opinion all that you really want to do is just clean the rust off before you paint it. You could also attempt to find someone who does steel shot instead of bead, or maybe sand?

Ya I just want to get them to a condition where the paint will stick.

In my opinion blasting them should be fine then. Just use a good primer.
