Strange Power Steering Moan/Groan

For the past 2 weeks, I have been noticing an intermittent groaning from my power steering. It usually only happens when I make a turn at a higher than normal speed, or go over an rough driving surface that twists the wheels while they roll.

In the past few days, It has gotten worse than usual, and more frequent.

It is still very infrequent, but it bothers me, and I am thinking something may be very wrong.

I looked into the issue a bit more, and read of a few people having this same issue because of not having the clear mopar fluid in the reservoir. I have not had time to check if mine is running the correct fluid or not, but what do you think?

could be low fluid level or pump is going out. Check the fluid first

I checked my fluid it and it seems to be brownish. I read somewhere that it needs to be clear, does it stay clear or eventually turn colors?

What does this sound like?
