Stock Shock list for lifts

Here is a list I made when I was picking out shocks for my home brew lift. Putting it down on paper really helped me pick the right shocks for me so I hope it can help some one else.

I used air shocks front and rear, mostly because of cost and so I could level the back easily. But I listed regular shocks, coil overs, and air shocks. the air shocks only cost about $15 more / pair than cheep monroe shocks. I added part numbers so you can check with your local parts store.

Most of these will need some fab. Nothing too hard, mostly pressing out/in cross pins. the ford explorer and buick shocks already have pins but I can tell you that the buick shocks need to have the cross pins drilled out or ground to make them fit.

IMHO almost a good list. nice try though. one thing to remember is that most of the people on this forum are not mechanics. heck i bet there is a bunch that dont even know how to change their oil. so keeping this in mind your list looks like a bunch of random numbers and letters. maybe just simplify it some and what lift the shock would work best with. could even say if it hurts/helps up/down travel. otherwise it is decent info. just my .02

How the hell could that be confusing even for someone who doesn't know cars?

The list looked better on paper, the spacing wasn't off... But if anyone has any questions, including how to read it, Let Me Know.

Stock front shocks are 13" compressed and 21" extended. so if you have 3" of lift and stock bump stops you need a shock that is 13" - 24" if you had added 2" to your bump stops than you could use a shock that is 15" - 24" And its always ok to go a little shorter on the compressed length and a little longer on the extended length. But never the other way...

Whatever you add to the length of your bump stops you can and to the stock compressed length, and you can add your lift to the extended length.
