stock axles vs alloy axles ?

are the alloy axles worth the money ? or should i save the money and just buy a few stock axles ?

the only axle i seem to have a problem with is the short side . 2 in 2 years i guess that anin't bad .

ps . i allways carry a spare for each side .

With that infrequent breakage, I'd stick with the stock axles if you don't want to put the money into the aftermarket axles.

Is this for the 30 or the 8.8? If its for the 30, is it the shafts breaking or the ujoints? If it is the shafts, where are they breaking?

If its the ujoint, upgraded shafts won't help, the joint will still break and take out the ears on the shafts.

IT'S FOR THE 30 . and yes the joints break taking out the ears on the axles ... so would better joints help ? say ctm's or something = ? but i guess with better joints ....i'd need better axles .

i've had cj's with 30's in the front not break the ears of the axles when the joint breaks .

On a '90 xj you have the big joints only if you have ABS and not if you have a non disconnect axle.
Diego.

the short side is usually the side that breaks, as there isn;t as much deflection in the shaft because of the fact it is shorter.

as mentioned above, you only have the bigger joints if you have ABS in your 90.

anyways, as for alloys, I am running them after breaking a few joints/shafts........so far I have been unable to break them. I am running longfield joints (the old style)
