Steering Problem...

I've got a 2000 sport that makes a really loud knock when turning left, any ideas as to what it is?
it's louder when I'm at lower speeds like going through parking lots and what not. You can feel the knock in the steering but the whole front end doesn't bump or anything. It's mostly a loud sound that I'm afraid is ****in up shop more every time it happens

go through the steering under the jeep. check the steering gear bolts, the bolt holding the pitman arm on, and the tie rods. you should also check the track bar bolt on the axle side to make sure thats tight. my jeep was making a poping noise when i turned, and it turned out to be two of the steering gear bolts were slightly loose. they only tightned like a 1/4 turn tighter, but the noise went away. hope this helps.

Mine was doing this too. For me, it was the trac bar at the frame end (the one that looks like a tierod end). Pull the cotter pin and tighten down the nut that is inside the bracket. If this solves the noise but it comes back in a few weeks you will either need to replace the trac bar or the bracket itself; the hole in the bracket wallows out letting the trac bar keep coming loose.
