starting issues
hello again guys! i just want to ask help abt my 92cherokee's problem.. last month, while driving, everytime i stop, while my gear (auto) is on D, and im just stepping on the brakes, like in a traffic situation or in a stoplight, while the car's in a temporary stop, the engine starts rumbling as if it will stall. i tried to put a STP fuel injector cleaner additive in the gas tank and after, it seemed to be ok again, but after a month, when i tried to start the car in the morning, while cranking the engine, it doesnt start properly, like the engine became very weak. so what i did is i stop the engine and started it again, second try, it was ok, so i give some big throttles while in N. 2 weeks passed and now, the problem happened again, but i solved it again by stopping the engine and starting again. but in the evening, i was about to start the car again, when i cranked the engine, the engine did not respond, it doenst started and i heard noise while cranking the engine (tiririririririt) like a high pitch rumble, maybe its the fuel pump that is rumbling or i dont know.?? i checked my battery, there is a hygrometer and its still green - which means still ok.. now i dont know what to do.. Sorry for making this story long.. i hope i can hear from u guys! thanks so much

well ive been surfin some threads on starting issues recently, and alot of rough starts and rough idling when starting. most end with the battery. id say dont trust your battery tester it probably isnt that great....take ur battery to an auto parts store to get tested, or if its older than 5 years or more than 80K just junk it as it will be dead soon anyways. that tiriririririririt you hear sounds like a dead battery, or extremely low. replace the ground wire and battery along with terminals and you should be good

sorry i didnt clarify why the battery causes the issue. what happens is when the battery goes too low. it clears the memory of the computer . the problem with this is that idle specs are stored in the computer to tell the engine how to idle properly. if that is cleared you get a very rough idle upon start up.
