Starting Issue!!

I purchased a cherokee this past week and it has had no issues starting. But this evening i went to start it but it wouldnt turn over the lights would just come on on the dash. I messed around with it and the only time it will even turn over and start is when it is in neutral. I have no clue what would be wrong with it! i need some help lol
ohh and the lights are out on the 4wd and the gears if that would have anything to do with something

If it starts in Neutral but not in park, it's likely the neutral safety switch.

Try cleaning/refurbishing your NSS as mentioned. This oftentimes restores full function.

Here is yet another link in the "how-to".

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
