Spark Plug Coil?? Transmission?

2000 Jeep Cherokee 6.0 2 Door Sport

Yesterday, I drove perfectly fine from Weston to Johnson Drive and back. This mourning on my way to work, I started getting a clunking while driving down the road. I pulled over and looked underneath to discover no debris. Driving further down the road I notices that if I stayed at around 60mph there would be no real clunking very often. The jolts become more and more so I decide to turn around. I get down to the entrance ramp and around just fine. After accelerating to around 40 there was a big jolt. I made it 10 miles down the road to the shop/. They ran a diagnosis test and told me that I should change my spark plugs/coil. I drive home, another 10 miles, and it starts to get worse. There was a couple times where I heard a spinning. If i put it in neutral, there seemed to be no problem coasting on the roads. Jarring into into my driveway, I replace the transmission fluid as well as change the spark plugs. No change. I can reverse and drive backwards till I get about 5 mph before it jolts. I can knock it back into drive and reverse no problem as well. Driving higher than 20mph now seems to make it do some whiny thing. Just yesterday, everything was great.

The engine light has been on for a week, guy said it may have been the ignition coil. I understand how this may cause some troubles. Though when in neutral or in park and revving the engine, there seems to be no problem.

Code reader said it had a mis-fire and a p0432 rt bank cat efficiency.

p0432 that was the code. I can move slowly back and forth. If i go a faster speed then a get a huge kick underneath me. I can get to 60 mph but it will kick several times before getting there. Sometimes there would be a spinning noise that would only stop when I would stop and put it in park. Now it is just sitting till I can get the new coil tomorrow, and try installing that.

The code and what you describe sounds like a bad catalytic converter or could be a simple coil rail swap. Hard to tell.

Describe this "kick " better. Does it feel like it suddenly looses power , and that's why you can't get to high speeds ?

at one point i went backwards...it kicked twice and the jeep shut off........................ i went into 4x4 part time without any trouble but i didnt try it at accelerated speeds... i went forwards and backwards numerous times over and over without any real trouble from it transferring but once it knocked pretty well

You are pointing at everything except what's causing the code ....The cat is not doing its job ! Either it's bad , it's bad and falling a part and lodged in tail pipe or you have a bad 02 sensor ( not likely )

A bad cat can make you think you have all sorts of problems. Fix the know problem first.

Since you continue to tell us it's the transmission & not diagnose what is happening, you should replace the transmission then get back to us, once the NEW TRANSMISSION is installed, then tell us what's happening.

Terms we are looking for when describing this "kick", we'd like to know if it is back firing through the intake???
Have you tried a power brake??? Put in drive, hold the brake & get it up to some RPM before the vehicle starts to move. Maybe 1500 RPM,s. What is it doing while under load??? Can you temporarily remove the oxygen sensor from exhaust system to see if the exhaust gas can escape from the O2 hole. This would help you understand if the Cat is plugged.
