Source for REVERSE SWITCH for "Asian" Trans???

OK - had my Jeep in to a local shop, no reverse lights. Guy said the reverse switch on the passenger side of the trans is bad, $400 for the "asian" trans.

Said I could probably find it cheaper than he could source it.

Anyone??? Need reverse lights.

Thanks in advance... Rock Auto and Quadratec came to mind.

Barry

Google AW-4 Neutral Safety Switch.

The NSS can often be cleaned and re-used. -> http://www.boyandjeep.com/tech-artic...switch-rebuild

IF yours is not repairable, I got one from this seller on ebay for $114 and change shipped.

Thanks. For $100 I ordered the Ebay part. It was the same part number as the $240 Rock Auto part.

It's actually Aisin, not Asian. The AW in AW4 stands for Aisin-Warner.

AHhhh..... gotcha. We were on the phone. And I was wondering why I'd never heard of a "Asian" trans in a Jeep.

I got to look at the Jeep Specs section on this web page, but what are the models of trans that come in Cherokees ???

I was on the phone with the guy, he said his parts supplier was $400+ for the switch, but he knew his customer's had sourced them far cheaper. Dude is like 70 some years old, my guess is he's not logged on the the web, he's turning wrenches.

On a happy note, other than the stuff I told him to fix, he found only the rear pinion seal leaking, and said the Jeep I bought is very solid and should run forever. Didn't even need a tuneup. Plugs/cap-n-rotor/wires were new.

OUCH.... I figured given other prices, $97 was a deal. Being a cheap bastard I really am annoyed I just got this information.

HAHAHA....

Cheaper isn't always better, especially where electrical systems are concerned.
