Something wrong with Jeep's record of my vehicle - wrong build sheet

Hey, I sent Jeep my VIN to get a build sheet on my XJ, and the sent me the wrong build sheet. I emailed them back about it, with the VIN directly off my jeep, and they maintain they sent me the right sheet.
The build sheet sent to me:

My Jeep has the 4.0L, and not the 3.xL V6 in the build sheet. Also, my Jeep does not have Airbags of any kind, or the 2 spoke soft feel steering wheel. My front license bracket is also still there, and the windows were not tinted when i purchased the vehicle. Can anyone help me with why Daimler-Chrysler may have sent me the wrong build sheet? Or is it possible my XJ was wrecked and had some parts replaced?

Also, what is the Indy 500 Special Edition Package?

A lot of the codes get reused. The code description has probably changed since the rig was built in '86.

something is whacked, bro.

call up the 1-800 customer care line and speak to someone personally.

somone has their wrong info.....check your vin id yourself, to see if it identifies the car as an xj, where it was built, etc...it's in the vin sequence. perhaps it's off a same model year chrysler, they used 3.0 v-6 mitsubishi motors in all front wheel drive product lines. next generation front airbags started like in 98 or so....as far as the indy 500, that sounds like the old dodge daytona series, the G-body, not the XJ....

There are several spots on your vehicle where their should be a VIN located at if I remember right from LEO classes. Theres the one on the windshield and then theres one or two others that are in hard to get spots. This is done to be able to identify a vehicle should the dash vin go missing or be filed down. Also it is possible that your vin on your car has been copied and used again on ur XJ. There is such a thing as vin theft, kinda like ID theft. Dont know its been done till u do a little digging or go to register the car. Is it possible your engine got swapped out? I mean yeah its weird that theres no match up with your Xj but theres lots of reasons why it might have happened.

I've heard that this is not uncommon from a few other Jeep guys.

Now as to why the build sheets are wrong is beyond me....

I've been "told" that it is due to the fact that the codes get re-used every 10 or so years. The database updates all files on record, thus updating your buildsheet with incorrect information.

My XJ buid sheet came back kind of funky too, there were several options on it that werent actually there, tinted windows, fullsize matching spare w/ cover, and so on. Im of the opinion that they just arent reliable. Mines a 99 btw, so youd think itd be accurate

dude your jeep is almost 20 years old, before computers were an everyday item. as far as the 3.x if you do the math for ci-lit the 4.0 actualy comes out to 3.9 so yes its 3.x. mine was off to, but i didnt sweat it. some codes just changed and some stayed the same. most of the info there is probably correct other than some options.

My 93' had a messed up build sheet also, it was saying I had a 3/4 XJ, and that I had the Corporate 8.25 rear, which I don't.

I found a build sheet for mine taped to the inside of the driver's door when I changed my speakers. It was a little weathered and faded, but still legible.

Yeah, XJ's had a rubicon group way before the wrangler had their rubicon, too bad they got all the fun toys with theirs.
