Single Din Adapters for 99 Cherokee
I bought a single din HU from Crutchfield with the adapter they sent me. It bounced up and down, and I didn't feel like trying to attach the unit to something behind it. I saw this at quadratec, and wondered if anyone has installed a stereo with it?
http://www.quadratec.com/products/96082_103X_PG.htm I'd like a single din, b/c I can't find a 1.5 din with a front aux input. Anyone know of any of those? Andy

Not many options at all with a 1.5 din receiver.

if you do get a single din receiver, get the Metra install kit. It's by far the best out there. The Scosche kit I used was flimsy and cheap, Metra was alot better.

unfortunately no matter what kit you get good ol Chrysler/jeep only uses 2 mounting points in their radios. I agree with "dude in a xj" definently use a metra kit, they are well made kits. The one i used has a extra pocket under it ,metra part # 99-6000, It has been very sturdy and i've never seen it let the radio move at all.

Make a bracket for the back of the radio to support it properly. Use the lug/stud on the rear/center of the chassis, and some aluminum bar stock from the local hardware store. Cut, bend, and pop rivet a brace that goes from side to side below the radio, and connects up to the bolt/stud on the back of the radio chassis. Once done, it's as rigid, or moreso, than OEM.
