Single best modification?
Got a question. What do you think is the single best (or most important) modification one can make to a completely stock (1999 Cherokee 4dr Sport 4.0 Automatic) for light to moderate trailing in the Rocky Mountains?

x2 some kind of locker in the rear = most bang for the buck.

Recovery points and Recovery Gear. You can go wheelin' without a locker, but regardless if you have a locker or not, you may get stuck and need to get out.

well i just picked up my front skid today....................but tow points are a must. You can wheel a stock Jeep but it's mighty hard to get pulled out if you have no where to hook on to!

on a side note, when in doubt you can pull from the axle...they are solid afterall. Unless you're pulling it up out from a cliff 10 feet straight down, that might not be a good idea so much. I'd go with the locker as the single most important option.

i don't think that's such a good idea myself, for some reason i think it might put too much stress on teh driveline parts. plus when your rocker deep in mud it's not so much fuhn getting at them!

Really good ideas! Thanks, and keep them coming too. I really like the "recovery package" idea. What makes up a recovery package?

very simple. Rear hitch, front tow hooks or front hitch and a recovery strap.
