Single battery with winch

Anybody having any luck running a winch off of a single battery? What's the biggest baddest battery you would suggest for doing so? I'm not running any other power hungry accessories, although I would like to get an Engel fridge someday.

I haven't fitted a winch to this motor yet but I will be doing and in readiness I have fitted an Optima yellow top. The starting specs are better than the stock unit and I also have the deep cycle ability for when the going gets tough. Deep cycling a stock battery can wreck it within a dozen cycles while the yellow top should be good for over 300 cycles.

I run mine off a single car battery. Just a regular battery, nothing fancy like an Optima, either. My battery is about 8 years old. Yeah, I know it's days are numbered, but it's still starting just fine for now.

I've been running a single Optima Blue top for four years using a MM 12000 winch. Use it for others as well as myself. It works very well, especially when you upgrade you B+ wiring, like so http://www.soxja.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=550

So it sounds like one battery might be fine. I'm not planning on using it tons. I'm more into the expedition thing than rock crawling. I could see myself maybe needing to do a long pull across a ford, however. I'm not sure exactly why, but I'm a little more inclined to get a really heavy duty high quality battery over an optima. Seems to be internet rumors floating around of premature failures of the later, plus, there's the price.

I run mine with an Optima red top. Have no problems really, but don't really use the winch all that often. When I do, the vehicle is on as well.
