I have a 2000 Cherokee with a 3" lift, rear shackles and a few other goodies...nothing too crazy. I did drop the t-case .5 inch but since I take it off road a bit adding shims sounds like a good idea (until an SYE happens). Any advice on where to get some shims and how to install them? I haven't seen it done before. Thank you for the help.

If the transfer case is dropped .5 to 1.0 inches, you should not need axle shims.

Taking the Jeep off road has nothing to do with needing shims.
You either have drive line vibrations, or you don't.
If you DO, then either drop the T-case more, or, add shims ;)

Many shops sell shims. Check the usual places (4WD, Morris 4x4, and so on).
And there should be videos on Youtube...
