Shifter Cable Stretched??

My gear shift no longer lines up with the selector positions next to the gear shift. I also cant even select the 1-2 position as well.

I have tried adjusting the cable 3 separate times according the procedure in the FSM. Each time the results yield nothing to correct the problem.

Is it safe to say that I need to replace the shifter cable
, or am I missing something?

We would have to see a pic. However I used washer spacers on mine, but mine was only off around a 1/4 inch. Either way the cable is not very expensive!

Fixed it, my cable bracket was bent away from the bell housing putting the cable in a bind. Pried it back and then I had to use 2 washers on each bolt to get the 1/8" I needed to get to park. Problem solved. Thanks.
