Separated Spot Weld
I was crawling around under the XJ and found a broken/separated spot weld. It is where the unibody rail comes back and first attaches to the fire wall/floor pan. It is only the first weld that is separated and the rest appear intact. Is this something I should be concerned about or are a few broken welds here and there the nature of the beast?
It's probably not a big deal, but if you are concerned, you can either (1) have someone MIG weld the area (be sure to remove any interior carpet or insulation before doing this or (2) drill and bolt the broken weld with suitable hardware.
I don't own an XJ any longer, but I still think they are the best of all the Jeep products ever made. My XJ was my favorite vehicle in my 50+ years of driving.
So...I stick around and give advice.
Here are a few pictures of what I am talking about.
