Seafoam + old jeep
I may be crazy but I listened to my friend who knows a bit about cars having been a truck driver and a hot rodder. I put seafoam in my crank case. I have a noisy lifter and he said that it was probably plugged up with crud. My jeep maintenance history is sketchy prior to me getting it. I have 160k on the clock and a small oil leak from the rear main seal. His reasoning was that if half pint of seafoam caused my engine problems then it was probably close to something failing anyhow.
Will keep you posted on the results.

I put a 1/3 in my crankcase and the other 2/3 in my tank about 3 months ago, I had my rear main replaced about 6 months ago. Its time for another oil change, and the only thing I have seen yet is a little more oil than normal from the valve cover, and a negligible amount leak coming from the front of the pan underneath. But, It did clean up and quiet a few things, and it definately runs smoother.

So far the lifter noise in mine is less and no increase in the leaks. Ive put about 250 miles on it so far. Not sure how long I will leave it in there, probably till the noise doesnt show any improvement or goes away completely.

A week after adding the seafoam the lifter tick is almost totally gone and my rear main leak is no worse than started. I vote for seafoam in old jeeps. No fear, just take the plunge.
