Seafoam Made My Jeep Run Worse??

I am just wondering if someone can shed some light on why my car runs worse after using seafoam?

It seems to idle worse and definitely does not start up as quick. Immediately after using 1/3 can of seafoam in the intake and 1/3 in the gas tank. I did not add to oil.

Probably loosened up lots of crap in the fuel system. When did you last change out the fuel filter?

Run a tank or two of premium through it, should start to run better, not the first time I've heard of this happening.

I just replaced the plugs with the basic champion plugs everyone recommends in the fall. I also did new wires, cap, rotor.

I guess I will just run some premium through it and see what happens. I guess seafoam should be reserved for older XJ's that really need it. I was just bored and thought cleaning out the fuel system couldn't hurt anything since I dont know what the previous owner had done.

you most likely loosened up some pretty big chunks, and the amount of seafoam you put in wasn't enough to completely dissolve them. I would put that other 1/3 can you've got left into maybe 6 gallons of gas, and run it. Then I'd get 1 more can, put 1/2 of it into a full tank and run that out. After that, your problems should be gone, just like the sludge.

Are you the Seafoam rep?

I'll give it a try. Thanks for the help.

Its not snake oil Loads of people have had good things come from it... I did it to my 2000, and definitely could tell the difference.

The first time you start it up after using seafoam, it should start hard and run rough, mine always does. Take it somewhere wide open and flog it for 10-15 minutes and the following time it starts, you should be golden.

big chunks of sh*t, thats what carbon from the throttle body, chunks of sludge from the fuel tank. Everything that seafoam dislodges has to be forced through the entire fuel system and combustion process. I also disagree with your stand on premium...but thats a different argument. cactus = ice cream

If it doesn't clear up after a good hard drive, pull the plugs and check them out. You may have a piece of the carbon that the seafoam broke loose stuck in a plug causing it to foul. And I have used seafoam numerous times with good results.
