Runs rough when warm, help

G'day guys,
I have a 95 model that seems to starve of fuel and loose power when accelerating after I've been driving it for more than 45 mins or so on very hot days. The engine doesn't seem to be overheating and I've only recently given it a service due to the same issue arrising.
When I back off on the throttle it will travel ok at around 80km/h and if I stop for a short while and restart it the problem goes for some time then returns.
Can someone help me pleeease?

Thanks, Wayne.

That's a tough one. I would first say maybe a fuel problem but you said after it warms up but not overheating. What is the temp it's running at? Could be your pulling hot air in the intake, maybe try a air intake upgrade with a heat shield. There are plenty of K&N write ups here, and it may help. Also are you sure it's the engine that's loosing power?

Could also be your trans, (if auto), that is overheating and slipping...Does it seem to shift at the same RPM when cold and hot? Other than that 45min is a long time for the problem to arise. If it was engine heat related you most likely would see the problem sooner...

Good Luck

KC

Thanks, The Temp goes a little above 40 on the gauge. The Auto doesn't seem to slip and changes pretty much the same as when it's cold aye.

A) The way we (in Europe) used to test if the (racing) car had enough gas was: put in the first gear and accelerate it to almost maximum RPM. We kept it there for few seconds. If it has enough gas to face this situation, then it will face any later. If it starves, you'd feel it.

B) You can also check the fuel pressure (hook up the gauge at the port, have a long hose and have the gauge inside where you can read it). Drive around and read the gauge when the engine works fine and when it does not.

These two ways sould get you a clear picture.
