I wounldn't be posting ur vin on an openly viewed message board, especially with mods listed. I've heard of, seen, people on sites like ebay using that info to scam people into bidding on and "buying" a vehicle that the person doesn't even have. They take your vin#, and post some pics w/ mods and "sell" it on ebay, then trick people into making a deposit on the vehicle.

People troll message boards and use that info to scam people. Just a heads up.

So... What can they do with your VIN? They can't do crap with your VIN. You own the vehicle and have proof of that with the title that's in your name. If VINs were so private they wouldn't be on the dashboards of every vehicle in the world and perfectly viewable by anybody. I could go to a parking lot and get probably 1000 VINs. What can I do with them? Basicly nothing at all except run vehicle history reports on them which basicly tells you nothing you can do anything with.

Doesn't matter. Anyone who wants a VIN can just go to any dealers web site and look up a used car to get it's VIN. The dealers all post the VINs with the adds so potential buyer can run the CAR FAX on it.

For that matter, you can walk through a parking lot and read the VIN off of the plate under the lower driver's side corner of the windshield of almost any car there. I don't see the point of your post.

Actually no I don't. As a matter of fact, my car has a personalized plate (same as my board name at my other forum), and I leave it in the pics. In some instances I will, like say if I'm selling a vehicle locally.

Okay, look. I'm not saying that someone is going to use your vin # and sell your Jeep out from under you so relax. All I am saying is that, we had an instance over at mr2oc.com, where someones car was spotted on ebay being sold for some unheard of price. Pics, specs, mods, everything was listed. They use it to scam for a down payment or something. Again, I'm not saying that they're going to steal your vin and sell your Jeep without you knowing. Some of us don't really have to worry. There are others here who have a lot done to their Jeeps, and it could happen to them. I know if I had a highly modified Jeep, I wouldn't want it to be listed on ebay with someone trying to pull a scam on someone else. Would you want your vin listed with all your mods, and even pics of your Jeep on Ebay? I wouldn't. I'm just trying to look out for other people and post the info, so chill.

You must have ran a vehicle history report on AutoCheck not Carfax.
