rpm issue

I've been having an issue with my 98 xj.

Right away when i start driving with in the first quarter mile. I bog down and then theres a popping sound like a back fire and then important good for the rest of the drive

Replaced the spark plugs just for good measure butter it didn't help.

Any ideas?

Are all the tune-up parts fresh ? Have you tested the igniton coil ? Test the O2 sensors, the Throttle Position Sensor, and the Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Engine sensors have a certain lifespan and replacement of sensors and tune-up items is part your normal and routine maintenance.
