I run the Clayton LA's, but they were on the rig when I bought it.
They are extremely high quality, and the square tubing has done nothing but scratch the paint of it! As I said though, comparing the RC parts to something that costs nearly twice as much is not a fair comparison IMHO.
That would be like comparing their leaf springs to my Alcans, where the Alcans cost about as much as the whole RC lift kit
The RC stuff will more than suffice for 99% of the people here. It would take some pretty extreme abuse and wheeling to find any of the weak spots that may or may not pop up.
For the money, I would go with the RC if I was on a budget and just make my own skid plate for the tranny bolts.
Can't say more than that can I?

Martin

not doubting you in anyway, but do the Alcans justify their price? Is the ride quality/flex THAT much better?

Ryan,
Huh? Ye lost me there I guess. I didn't think I had mentioned Alcan until just now? I maybe just getting old....

Portcity, They do flex extremely well, and more importantly ride excellent on the road. My wife drives the XJ more than I do seeing as I am gone most of the time. I don't think anyone can argue with Alcan, or any other custom spring, if funds allow. I was lucky enough to be able to afford them, otherwise I would have gone for an off the shelf spring for sure. They also were able to make a spring that gave me the exact lift I wanted when I have the shackle relocation box and a slight lift boomerang shackle.

Hey guys, I'm new here and got a question.
I'm waiting end of november to buy a complete 6.5 lift kit with long arm, but from what I see there's so much interest in it that I'm affraid that long arm kit could be B/O for month???

nice. have heard they make great custom springs, but to me, being a poor 21 yr old college student, the price just does not justify the product. i wanted a lifted jeep, so my RC coils and RE leafs work fine. i almost purchased RE coils but the guys at IRO talked me into RC coils instead, and im glad they did. My point i guess is that most on-the-shelf products will work fine for 95% of us.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question (I'm not too knowledgeable about LA setups), but I wanted to check before I got too excited about getting these.. Will I be able to run them with ~4" of lift? I dont really want to go any higher since its my DD but would love a more comfy ride.

Long arms on @4-4.5"of lift will ride extremely well.
You can go long arms on less lift, or even stock, to improve the ride.

Portcity, As I said, I was fortunate enough to be able to afford them, but I have a few years on you too.....
And I agree, for 99% of the folks who buy a lift kit, stock springs work excellent.

I figured adjustable LA's would work but cant quite tell if these are since all I've ran are the fixed RE LCA's.. Looks like it, but I just wanna be sure. I noticed the IRO kit charges an extra 100 for adjustable arms, so if they do come adjustable this really is a screamin deal

Thanks martin

Matrin: Your only 40?! your not old.....now I feel bad....haha

jeep450r They should still work with the frame stiffeners with some drilling. The side bracket is slotted so there is enough room to extend it.
