heres mine.. I cut out my rockers... I used to have these as my sliders, but i cut off the supports that ran to the unibody off, and welded just the "slider" in place.

I think thats a fairly good range of the different "rocker guards" (more like rocker replacements) out there.
What level of fab skills do you have? Are you looking for pictures of basic bolt on rock rails? Replacements like Eric posted? Or. Full on boatsides like starboard posted?

If you go up as high as I did, be prepared to cut about 1.5" off the bottom of your doors. If you go up as high as Starboard M you will need to cut more (obviously).

Originally they were custom rock sliders, and mounted under the rocker. You can see in the 1st pic where they used to be mounted to my frame stiffeners.. The sliders came from my buddy, they fit his jeep fine but for whatever reason, they fit crooked on mine and looked crappy. My drivers side rocker was rock solid, no rust at all. My passenger side rocker was 95% solid, but there was one tiny hole in it. After getting pissed, I just went to town. It was totally on a whim and I kind of winged the whole thing, but I just broke out the grinder and jig saw and welder and went to town.. Hardest part was welding thick metal ( the slider ) to the very thin sheet metal of the rocker... The jeep was on the lift and we were welding the slider in place along the top seam.. It got so hot on the inside that my amp wire that runs inside along the floor behind the trim melted and cought fire, and cought part of my trim and carpet on fire... The windows were closed on my jeep so we didnt see or smell it initially. My neighbor was chillin in the garage drinking beers and he goes "oh **** your jeeps full of smoke". Had to lower the lift, but the lift lowers a car very slowly, so it burned for probably 30-45 seconds... Good thing someone noticed it because otherwise my jeep would have been a lot worse.... |
