Throw this in the FA-Q's in the sticky up top.

Good stuff.

I will be going up another inch all around with spacers and shackles and a friend of mine is insisting that I take his old 1" spacer (which we replaced with 1-3/4" this past weekend on his Rubi) but I feel bad not throwing some money at him.

Anyways...the question. When its listed 1" shackle like listed above does that mean a true 1" of lift of 1" longer shackle? Just want to make sure because people talking about doing MJ shackles and Ford Ranger stuff and so on and saying that just because its an inch or two longer doesn't mean they will see that height difference in the vehicle.

I think he has them listed as what the makers advertise as true lift height.

The "advertised" lift of the shackles isnt always exactly what you get of actual lift. I got RE 1.25 lift shackles with my 5.5" lift and the shackles actually provided less then 1" of lift. EricsXJ has a pic of some shackles on his site that shows the difference in length. The Terraflex shackles actually do give the advertised lift and some have reported a tad bit more then advertised.

Here is how to figure out how much lift shackles will give you...

As you can see, the stock shackles are 3.125 inches from eye to eye. Shackles will give 1 inch of lift for ever 2 inches longer they are, therefore to determine the actual lift a shackle will give you...

X=eye to eye measurement of lift shackle

(X-3.125)/2 = actual amount of lift gained from shackles.
