Requested 4-link Pics

Again sorry these pics were taken with the jeep still on the trailer and its pitch black outside so sorry for the wash-out of the camera flash. First picture is of the Rear Lower Control Arm- Frame end mount. (uses stock front leaf spring location) The second picture is of the Rear LCA- Axle end mount. (piece of 2"x2"x.250 wall square tubing, torched to accomodate the heim joint. I think it looks pretty well and is pretty strong) Third Pic is of Rear Upper Control Arm axle mount. (yes I realize the frame end of the control arm isnt boxed in and yes, I know I need to do it.) Sorry about the dirt spots on the axle, and please don't trash my welds. My Arc welder that I have at home trips the breaker after about an inch of welding. The better welds are when I had my Jeep at the company's Shop using a Mig welder.

First two of these pics are of the Front LCA's frame side mount. Yes it is a piece of 1/2" steel plate bent to accomodate a heim joint. Again, please don't bash I'm not a proffesional fabricator. The third pic of these is of the complete front control arms, please remember this setup is being changed hopefully this weekend front this Rustys Offroad style control arms to a real 4-link.

What size heims are those? Way too small IMO just from the pics.

Did you wheel the XJ before the coils out back and long arms? How much lift were you running?

Are you running a SYE with all that going on and now rear shocks? Whats stopping your flex if anything?

I would not feel safe in that. The shift linkage in my friend's car has larger heim joints than that. =(

No my previous setup before all of this was just the Rough Country 3" AAL. No SYE yet, (driveline angles are all okay plus I'm not worried about Vibes) and no limiter straps yet. Brake lines are ran so that they won't become too tight at full flex.

i would not trust a rig built like that, you may have gotten away with it for now, but those lower mounts are begging to be ripped off, and i have torn the leaf mounts from the body with leaf springs let alone links

i think my steering is stronger than your control arms

I never had lots of money for my build, but doing it right once is cheaper than building it like your jeep, breaking it, then building it right the second time. I also built 90% of everything under my jeep, I took plenty of time to research what I was doing and made sure I was doing everything right. lots of nights on the computer reading the build threads of other peoples xj's and getting ideas from that.

if you can't afford to play then hold off until you can. right now you have a dangerously unreliable suspension under there.

No it's because you have not done an once of research before tossing your junk pile together. My whole suspension was fabricated and looks nothing like yours. Yes I spent some cash on components but that was in the name of doing things right and safely. When you build things like this on the cheap you are not only potentially hurting yourself but possibly people around you.

oh and p.s. the size of the heim Joints I used are 30,000 psi, and accept a 3/4" bolt. thats all I really know statistically about them.
