Replacing the O2 Sensor

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 6cyl, 4.0, 4x4, 115,000miles. The check engine light is on. I used the OBD-II Auto Scanner. The code is PO132 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage - Bank 1 Sensor 1 (Sensor 1 is located upstream of the catalytic converter).

I have purchased the O2 sensor.
Any tips or information I should be aware before replacing the O2 sensor?

Thanks for your help,
CapaJeep

I wish I could explain it in great detail..
Get a mirror or something & look closely at it before you start.
The receiving end of the plug that you'll be plugging into is mounted onto a bracket of sorts.. on the lower drivers side of the engine.
I ended up breaking mine off by not removing it correctly... and had to resort to zip-ties to keep it in place when I was done.

I like to think I'm an intelligent, mechanical guy.. but I was doing it wrong and snapped the darn tabs... It's NOT difficult.. if it is, then fall back & regroup.

Beyond what stlouisblues suggested, I would add that a "special" socket is NOT needed to change out the O2. Just a open end wrench.

A budy of mine went to replace his a couple of years ago and they "recommended" the socket with a slit on one side to get the sensor out. He looked dumbfounded when I asked him why not use a open end wrench!
