Replaced CPS...still no start

Hey guys. Ok I searched but couldnt find what I needed. My XJ died a few weeks ago. Had been driving it all day and shut it down...then it wouldnt start. I parked it and the next day I tried to start it. Same situation, cranks like normal but wont catch, not even a sputter. Today I dove into it. I figured it was the CPS so I replaced it. Still nothing. Have spark, fuel, and compression. I repaced the spark plugs b/c they were wet with fuel. Still nothing. Is there a fuse that could be bad somewhere?? Cap rotor and wires are 15k miles old.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Did you try the ignition coil pack?? Took mine off and put it back on and fired right uo for me when i was in your situation. Try that, probably a bad contact. Worked for me! Good Luck!

I thought about that but I have a good spark at the coil wire and the spark plug wire...so wouldnt that cancel out the coil pack?

Have you tried to start it while holding the gas pedel to the floor. You said the plugs were wet with fuel. It may be overfueling and flooding out. If not, you have fuel, you have fire, the only thing that could be left is timing. Check the cap for cracks, arcing, ect. It is possible to get a weak spark with a plug pulled, however have the same plug not fire in the cylinder. The pressure in the cylinder makes it harder for the electricty to jump the air gap. Something about 180 psi in a cylinder, molecules closer to gether, resistance incress yada yada yada.

Just barely put some pressure on the gas pedal or have someone crack open the throttle while you try to start it.

Tried the throttle at wide open, partial, barely, none, everything possible and no difference. Could the new CPS be too far away from the flywheel?

Pull the cap off and make sure the rotor is still working and that its not misaligned or bad.
