Replaced check valve, now lots of fuel issues??

Hey all, I'd like to have my XJ ready for this evenings festivities but I'm having a few issues that I'd like some input on. For reference, it's an 98 XJ, 4.0.

I put a BMW check valve in per directions from http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/ideas-275249/?highlight=check+valve and that part worked properly. Fixed the extended crank I had on cold starts. But, since then, I'm having a couple of problems. Since installing the valve, cold starts are perfect. Hot starts are now the problem, with the engine cranking but never firing unless I popped the hood and hit the schraeder valve on the fuel rail for a second to release some pressure. Once I've hit the schraeder valve and released some pressure, it'll start right up. Why? Too much fuel pressure with new check valve? Vapor lock?

Second problem: Small fuel leak on the rail. I'm pretty certain it's an injector o-ring. Not a big deal to replace, but why has this o-ring started leaking the day after installing the check valve?

Third problem: The rubber fuel line between the rail and the metal fuel line popped off last night when I started cranking it while it was hot. Why? It seems like it's held on there pretty tight, has this check valve actually increased my fuel pressure?

Any help is appreciated!

a check valve cant increase pressure, its not possible. it CAN make the injector leak though, instead of the fuel leaking back to the tank, the pressure is staying at the rail, so now the injector CAN leak

other than that, i dunno

Finally! Someone else has had the same problem I had. It's got to be increased fuel pressure, I totally agree. I agree with Rock Kustoms as well, but it really does act like it has too much pressure. I ended up taking mine off because it plain caused too many problems, the same as you mentioned, except mine wouldn't even start cold. black2door installed one off of ebay, and he hasn't had any problems, so I'd be curious how it would act with that one installed instead of the BMW part. I really am anxious to see if anyone can come up with the reason why it does this.
