You too? Got antsy waiting for a buddy to come help me and did the passenger side first. Corner of door and the hinge are slightly bent and it sits about an 1/8" lower than it should. O well I'll fix that this weekend. When I take the doors off for the first time since August. 40 degrees is the new 70. Sorry to bring back the old thread, was merely trying to remember how long the pins from Mcmaster were since I bent one and have to cut it...

I just gotta say, I am almost as excited to take the doors off then when I first got my jeep! Great write-up, I'm going to go with a pin/bolt first, if i don't like that then i'll cut the hinge off...

Sometimes its hard doing it with just one hand. Try using a long flat-head screwdriver to push the clip in and then with the other hand pull the connector apart. That has worked for me.

Meh, I wouldn't worry about the bushings too much. Mine mostly fell apart and my door still works ok. Check out EricsXJ's build thread and see what he did with the hinges.

i dont understand why cut the hinges when theres 3 bolts there you can unscrew...i understand it might be quicker with a slip of a pin ,but isnt the extra few minutes it takes to put those 3 bolts back in the hinge worth having a perfectly sealed door?

Im wondering the same thing... I mean sure you can't just pull a pin out and off they come, but at least they fit back on perfectly

it guess it would be ok strickly offroading ,but as a dd and the winters here in jersey id rather take a few extra minutes and unbolt them and have a good seal...i guess its personal preference, and what your using your jeep for...i would start out unbolting the doors to see if you like being door less first before you go hacking the hinges

This was already asked and answered in post #62.

In addition if you weld in 5/16" bolts as new pins as shown here, then you can take off the doors and put them on easily by yourself. By unbolting the hinges from the door it will require 2 people and one of them has to hold the heavy *** door while the other guy fumbles with the bolts and tries to line the hinges up perfectly. Unbolting does NOT guarantee a perfectly sealed door and as there are alignment plates in the door which move around. Doing it in the method described in the link above, once you get the hinge plate set, you never have to mess with it again.

i started to drill out the old pins on my hinges (95) and the bit broke off, so i now have a craftsman drill bit as my hinge pin. lol i need to get it out so i can get a bolt in there.
