Remove carrier when removing x shaft C8.25?

Will I have to remove the carrier from the housing of my C8.25 29 spline in order to remove the cross shaft in the differential? I have an open diff. Thanks.

Nope. theres a retaining pin that you loosen and pull off, the cross pins basically falls out along with the spiders.
