Rebuilding front DS CV joint

I got my hands on a used front DS to use with my PORC SYE. Got three new u-joints and tore apart the used shaft to replace the old joints. I found that the seal on the centering ball was bad... so off to NAPA I went to get the ball kit.

There are two seals associated with the centering ball. One holds the ball in the ball seat. This comes with the ball rebuild kit. Then, there is another that seals the prop flange (the part that bolts up to the t-case) and the H yoke - this seal protects the ball from water/grime, etc.

Where can I get this second seal? As I mention, it doesn't come with the rebuilding kit (which I think is ridiculous). The dealer claims that it comes with the flange (at a cost of $126). This is just a simple dust seal. Unfortunately, the one on the used shaft was torn.

Any ideas/experience?

Thanks,
Jeff

If you're talking about the Front T-case "Yoke" seal (Seal behind mounting flange on the T-case), you should be able to get one from ANY local parts store for about $5.00.

No... the seal I am talking about is actually "inside" the CV joint - between the flange and yoke... and surrounds the centering ball. I'll post a picture, later, to illustrate what I mean. I was just hoping someone dealt with this issue before (having to buy the whole flange just to get a simple, little dust/water seal).

Oh, Ok.

I would have thought it would come with the "ball rebuild" kit as well. I've never had to replace one, clean and re-pack, yes..but my seal was in good shape.
