Rear Seat Head Restraints?
Hiya, I'm new to the forum.....have a question or two about the Jeep Cherokee. Hope someone can help out!
I'm a big fan of the Jeep Cherokee, and am looking into getting one. They look like great all-around, capable off-roaders AND great personal transportation. I happen to think they look pretty damn cool too. I do have one concern though: Is there any way to add rear-seat head restraints to these Jeeps? I think they are really important. If I am going to be driving people around in my Jeep, I don't want to be risking serious neck injury for my rear-seat passengers (I know this sounds really anal, but I honestly do care. I might put someone I love back there, ya know?!?!?) Does anyone know of a set of aftermarketk, bolt-in rear-seat head restraint that can be added to these things??? MOST APPRECIATED!!!! If I can solve this problem, I think I will be a lot more motivated to get one. Thanks so much Jeep Peeps - Mike T. motorcity_69@yahoo.com

I don't think they make them to go in your stock seats. I'm sure you could find an after market seat that has them built in, though. Or you could make them your self

Are you sure that your '92 Laredo had head restraints?
I just looked at one on ebay and it didn't have them. Even in the last year of production (2001?) , it seems Chrysler-Jeep didn't think it was worth bothering with rear-seat head restraints. Argh! This is really bumming me out. It seems like the only thing I couldn't live with on these Jeeps. Wonder if anyone offers retro-fit head restraints that can be bolted to seat frames???? Yargh....... hey thanks for the replies you guys, by the way. I do want one of these. But that is, crazily enough, a dealbreaker. Grrrrr. |

I think they don't have them because of the way the rear seats folds forward into itself to extend the cargo area. They wouldn't fold up if they had them.

Doesn't a WJ (Grand Cherokee) rear seat bolt right up in an XJ? It just doesn't fold all the way down, right? That would be a nice seat upgrade if you can find one.

no north american spec xj had head restraints on the REAR seats. euro spec ones did. also retrofitting a rear split bench from a zj will also give you rear head rests
