Rear Seat

Ok, my 95 XJ's rear seat will not stop squeaking! I've tried petroleum and silicone based lubricants, neither seem to last more than a few days. The seat squeaks even when I drive at 5 MPH in my parking lot! The only time it doesn't is when someone's in it. Any suggestions? Thanks,

Pile some junk on it to simulate a passenger?

And Yes I run pies in my XJ, and I don't know how the guy with the integra gets up those washed-out farm driveways.

As always, my signature is a work in progress

Try using some actual grease. It won't try up like WD-40 and other spray lubricants.

that's what I do. Who needs passangers anyway?

oBut, you can try putting some thick tape around the latches and make sure it is locked in tightly.

I', sure some kind of adhesive felt or foam or maybe velcro strips would work as well.

You are on the right track.

I took a short length of fuel hose (about 1/2 of an inch long) and split it. Slip it over the strikers that the latches hold onto and your squeeks will be gone!

Alright, since I like to drive with the seat up, I went the tape route. I used a rubber electrical tape that stretches and sticks to itself. It's used in the telecom industry to seal splice enclosures. I did a couple of wraps on the two posts, and the noise is now gone. We'll see for how long. Thanks guys,
