Rear Driveshaft Yoke Pulled out
First off I have a 1998 Cherokee with 3.5 inches of lift. I just put in a 231 out of a 1996 I get absolutly no vibes. I went weeling on one of my friends dads land today. As I am going through a pit I hit a large rut, And all the sudden no rear power. My rear yoke pulled all the way out. Well i got the shaft off (thanks to a girl in a Lifted Tj that had tools), I got it home in 4 high. but now what do I do, Just shove it back in or do I need a longer yoke. Hoping to fix this toninght or tommorow after school.
You need an SYE with a longer driveshaft.
It happened to me about 4 times within a month time period... while on bumpy sections offroad, but I have no SYE @ 6.5-7 inches of lift w/ only a 1" t-case drop. I just put it right back in after it fell out. I pulled the 2 bottom leafs out of each side on my 6.5" Rustys leaf pack. It was fine wheeling 2 or 3 more times, and I am sure would have been fine a little longer, but my alternator and battery died... so I just have it parked while I wait for some cash and time to install the SYE/new driveshaft... and everything else.
A 1" t case drop and or a V8 ZJ driveshaft should work with so little lift for you.
