RE Full Packs and HD Track Bar

I'm getting ready to order a few upgrades for my XJ from Jason, I'm finally ditching the AAL for full packs (3.5"), 3/4 inch spacers to level out the front, and an RE HD track bar. That will be the first part, I also plan to do an RE Hack n' Tap and new rear driveshaft. I'm out of state and my Jeeps in storage until I return home and then can take measurements for the rear driveshaft. Will I be okay installing the new leaves and spacer for a couple weeks, until I can get the hack n' tap installed? It will only be temporary and will probably not see any offroad use while waiting. Thanks guys.

On a 98, i wouldn't risk driving it. The vibes are killer on the tcase. Get the Hack n Tap and shaft ordered and then drive it.

Forgot to mention, and not sure if it will make much difference, but I am currently running a 1" TC drop.

Honestly - its your decision in the end. But those 3.5" Packs are notorious for lifting way over their designed height until they settle. I have read people getting 5.5" lift out of a 3.5" pack. That's some huge driveshaft angle changes and I don't think a 1" tcase drop is going to help on a newer XJ..

I installed RE 5.5" lift and 1" t-case drop, and drove it without a SYE or CV shaft for several weeks. I had vibes between 35-45 mph. It was not a big deal and you can probably do the same. However.... every XJ seems to be a little different so I guess you never really know for sure till you try it.

I understand its not a good or recommended idea, just trying to figure if its workable for a short while without doing damage. Killing my T-case is not in the plan. Thanks for your input fellas.

If you were just going to be driving around town, then you might be OK until you could do the SYE. The 1" t'case drop will help in the meantime, but I don't know that I'd plan any long highway trips. I guess you could always just install the new leafs, take it for a spin to see how it is, and swap the old springs back in if necessary.

Here's a thought, order the RE hack and tap at the same time. Do all of it as soon as you get back, lift, hack and tap, everything. Don't forget shims to point the rear axle about a degree below the Hack and Tap. If your arn't gonna be doing any offroading, and just driving around town a little. Lose the rear drive shaft, engage 4 high, and drive with the front for the week it takes the rear to come in. In fact I had mine made at a local shop and had it the next day.
