Project Progression

Well gettin close to being on leaves.... My goal is supsension done by June first and regearing the front by the 24th.
Figured i'd start a little progression thread

Bumper after completion

Shackle tabs welded onto the bumper/xmember

Waggy front axle right after being dropped off

Got a set of wheels and 2 good 31s at harrys, hooked up the steering, tore off the shock mounts, set the axle on some rubber and now its a wheelable platform to make it easier to work on.

Its official now i have 5 good 31s, 2 good waggy wheels, complete waggy steering. I pick up the waggy 7 leaf packs on the 14th of may, along with the ubolt plates, shortly after that the jeep will be rolling out with the front end supported on leaf springs, I need to make sure to talk to my uncle this weekend need to get my scrap steel for the new rear shackle mounts/ lca mount beefing. Gonna look funny rollin around on 31s...

I like a good progression thread, all you are missing is a witty project title.

Thread will be kept alive, prolly will finish cleaning up the axle and paint it in the next week. Flat black with lime green diff cover.

I'll just put out my reasons for doin the leaves.
1) XJ Needed everything replaced up front, the d30 included (doesnt like 36 tsl's)
2) I like the simplicity of leaves, so easy to tune
3) I like the characteristics of front leaves, no unloading, most xjs that have done the conversion need rear coils/ quarter elipt to even out, waggy packs are soft
4) Cheap, i'll be at 6.5" of lift, a set of true hubs, large front brakes, larger balljoints (stuff i keep destroying) and i'll be at about 300 bux. Throw in another 200 for a crossover draglink and highsteer arm and ps flat top, and i'm still cheaper than just a crossover steering for d30s

Ye old cluster **** of shiit.

About 20 minutes later

Mock up with the existing lca holes

I didnt like the idea of slotted ones, plus that put the shackles flat when the springs were compressed.

Mock up of the axle with both spring in, End friday night was 11pm

Perches welded up
