Power window motor
Passenger rear window motor cramped out on me and I need to replace it. Does anyone know an easy way or any tips on removing the motor? Kind of need to fix it quick, window is in the down position. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have my doors modified so they come off with some quick disconnects on the power window motor. I went to the junk yard, got a door for 80$, and modified the hinges on that so I just plopped it right in the place of the other. Honestly, IMO for me that was the best option. Better than buying a new motor and regulator, which is almost the price of that door, then having to install it.

Take the door panel off
run a power wire from batt or fuseblock and a ground to the door metal
unplug the window motor wires and 'roll it up' with the power of your jump wires - you may need to reverse until it goes the right direction.

XJs have deficient wiring and with time that gets worse. you are probably not getting enough voltage to the motor.

I pulled the door panel and tested the voltage. My meter is showing 12.3 when I hit the switch. And solid 12 before the switch.

You may be on the constant 12v signal. Your gonna have to jump around the plug until you find the window up consent wire. I had the same thing happen on mine. I just unpluged the disconnect and found my 12v constant and jumped it to the window motor.

could always remover the motor from the housing, that will let your window move freely up and down the track,,push it up and then reattach motor to window rail and it should hold it up.

You should fill out your profile so we know year make and model.
It is unusual for the rear window to fail as it seldom gets used.
If you have measured the voltage while someone pushes the button, it seems good. Therefore the plug is dirty or the "motor".
They are not motors, but regulator. Test it by applying power via jumper cables. If this is not the worst design, it is a close second.
I would not get a junker as it is as old as yours, try eBay and amazon.
You are not alone.
