Power Window falls down on its own, and wont go up.... and its COLD!

Today getting into the parkade at school I go to put the window up and it gets to the very close to the top and then I hear a click kinda sound and the window drops about half way.

So now the power window switch wont move it up or down. But I can move it by hand.
Is there a way I can jam the window up without taking the door apart?
And what would the problem be?

Its WAY to cold to have my window down, -22C plus blowing snow making it feel like its -40C.

Help Please.

Sounds like you either have a bad regulator, bad motor, bad switch, or it just fell off the track. Whatever it is you have to open the door panel to find out and to fix it.

The same thing happened to my 98xj and it turned out to be a bad regulator. It took about two hours to put a new one in and the local stealership had one on hand. For the time being you could use duct tape to keep your window up.

Damn, I can hear the motor going when i use the switch, but nothing happens.

I didnt want to open the door, its always a pain in the ***.
If I open the door would it be easy to jam it so it stays up at least?

I took a couple pieces of paper and kept folding them till it was nice and fat. I then stuck it between the window and the inside seal. Kept the window up for about 2 weeks until i could get it fixed.

This happened to mine a few months ago. The actual push rod that moves the glass up and down broke off from the actual window.

Do not try to pull it up with needle nose pliers. I did this, and broke it.

Turns out it was just off the track. I got a new window to the tune of 145.00. That sucks.

go to a drug store and get two suction cups. push the window up by hand and put them as low as they'll go, jam them into the black bottom trim. it'll keep the window up.

thats what i did on my old POS oldmobile when the back window kept sliding down on the freeway.

ok I went down to jam it and it had fallen all the way down
So I busted out the tools and opened the door up, 20 minutes and 17 zip ties later that window isnt going ANYWHERE.

I dont really know what is broke because I couldnt get the part that opens the door and locks it to come off the door panel, but it came off enough for me to work around.

good find for that price. Did it replace the plastic tab that broke with a metal one?

Its common for the bracket that holds the window to break off right where it attaches at the track. You need a new window regulator just like isenegger, and I've had the same thing happen to both my front windows in the past.

yep it is metal and made by DORMAN. i work at Oreilly Auto Parts and that is who we order new window motors and regulators thru. also they make nuts and bolts as well. very good quality. none of this mopar $300 crap. normal price was about $100 for regulator with new motor no cores at all.
