Power steering problem

Hi guys,

I have a strange steering issue, when I start it from cold some times (like once out of maybe 30 cold starts) the power steering will randomly cut out.

The Jeep becomes really hard to maneuver etc but the wheels will still move, then maybe after about 30/40 seconds the steering is fine again.

I have noticed the Voltage Gauge fly right down when this happens, almost like the engine has stalled, yet it still runs fine.

This always seems to happen when im at the girlfriends and I have to park half on a curb and half off. Never had it from home were I am parked on level ground.

Admittedly this dose not sound like a huge problem, but it can happen any were with in 10mins of the cold start so it could cut out during a slow maneuver or on a highway

Any Ideas?

Well if you are losing both your charging ability and your power steering simultaneously you could be having belt issues. The belt could be slipping due to being worn, incorrect tension, or coated with an impurity.
