plzz help

i have a 2000 jeep cherokee.The ignition lock cylinder went bad.I took it out and i can start it with a screwdriver but itll only run for 3 to 5 seconds because of the anti theft.can i bypass the security?

Why not just replace the lock cylinder? Much easier than bypassing the security system. And do you really want anybody to be able to start your Jeep with a screwdriver?

I bought a new one but putting it together it got stuck in the lock position.long story short I ruined the new one so I rebuilt the old but now it's stuck in the position..I don't get it..

Lock cylinders can be tricky little buggers. Just take your Jeep to the dealer and let them fix it. Won't cost too much.

he said it only runs for 3-5 seconds, hes not taking it anywhere lol

when did they start putting security on a cherokee. got 2 and i do not have any. i replaced my ignition switch and it was easy. just had 2 differant keys to mess with.

It was a feature on the higher-end sub-models of the XJ in later years. My 2000 "Classic" has it. The "Sport" did not.
