I bought a seal from O'Rielly"s and it leaked right away also. Bought the seal from Auto Zone (Timken) and it has been nice and dry since. I also spent more time the second time around polishing the yoke. I also greased the yoke more the second time before I installed. All you can do is try again and make sure the yoke is cleaned up.

I've never had a new pinion seal leak. I assume you have some kind of rough surface on the pinion shaft or that the seal got bent when it was installed. If the leak is around the inside of the seal then number one is likely and if the leak is around the outside I would guess number 2.

its leaking on the bottom and not bent i didnt polish or put grease on it, id think that would make it leak more. but lol kinda funny but i bought my seal from oreilys too! ok so i take the seal out polish the inside were the seal was. then put grease in there and install the seal? what kind of grease do i use?

I just put a little axle/bearing grease around it so it goes in easy and you don't tear it.

The grease is just to keep the rubber seal surface from getting abraded before you have oil in the diff. Once you put oil in the housing and the ring turns, the diff oil will dissolve any grease you put on the shaft. If the leak is around the outside of the seal then there is something wrong with the housing there or the seal had a burr or there is a piece of material between the seal and housing. There is just a metal to metal fit around the outside of the seal.
