part identification?

if anyone knows for sure what it is i'd be greatful (the part pointed out as sensor)

Looks like the cruise control module. It's late and I'm tired, but I think that's it.

thanks, but nope, its a base model jeep, standard tranny only thing it has is power steering.

i thought it was the tps as well, but i researched it and the tps is in the rear of the intake (behind and under the rubber intake hose with "up" on it)

the only thing i've heard that might make sense is idle air control motor. but i'm unsure. i can't find a picture of said idle air control motor (which isn't the idle air control valve) so i don't know.

As a fellow 2.5 owner, I submit that that's your ISA motor (Idle Speed Adjustment). It is designed so that when you first start your engine it bumps your throttle up a bit. When you shut your engine off you should hear it retract (a series of ratcheting clicks - not too loud). Through the computer, it also works in conjuction with the A/C compressor (if equipped) and power steering pressure sensor to maintain engine idle speed when either of these kicks on.
