Parking brake lever problem
Hi,
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4dr 4x4 6cyl. Sport. The button on the parking brake lever popped off and the spring went flying. I have the button and the spring but it appears that the plastic button broke off. Should I get a new one, or try to repair the old one? If I should get a new one, WHERE IN THE WORLD can you find one? I've searched high and low, and found 1 on the Ebay, but would like to compare prices if possible. Thanks!

Try the dealer, or a junkyard.

When mine broke the inner "tube" part was left on the end of the rod inside the handle. Pry that off with a screwdriver. Hold the button in a vise with the open end up. Set the broken off tube end back in place, Fill in all the space between the inner wall of the button and the outside of the tube end with epoxy. Let it harden up a few days. Shove it back on. If epoxy seeps into the hole where the rod fits you will have to drill it out, or the button won't go on far enough to fit inside the handle.
So far it's survived the summer heat, winter cold will be the true test.
