Parking Brake Lever Broken
My parking brake lever button broke. The release button and spring both just came loose and I don't know where to begin with regards to the repair. I also have my center console that I assume will have to come off in order for me to repair.
I read through both my HANES and CHILTON manuals and neither have any instructions on how to repair or replace? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. ![]()

get some gorilla glue and put that crap back together... it worked for me... you cant just buy a replacement button.

When mine busted, I just went to the junk yard and picked up a used one. I believe it was $15 and the removal of teh junk yard one gave me all I needed to know to take the old one out and put the new one it.
You may be able to get away with just removing the console bezel and remove the center cover, console lid, and console container. It's been too long for me to remember exactly though.

Epoxy the button back onto the release shaft. Hold it in place against spring pressure with tape until the epoxy cures.

I fixed my parking brake a while back and here's how:
1) Removed the entire center console from stem to stern. It was a slow process and I had to be very careful not to break any of the plastic parts but it can be done. 2) Loosened the rear brake cable that connects to the brake lever assembly. This is done from under side of the Jeep. 3) Remove then replace the brake lever assembly from the topside (interior) of the Jeep. 4) Replace the entire center console from stem to stern. 5) Adjust the parking brake. That's it, your done... |
