Paint Stripper on the rims?

I plan to remove the partial clear coat that still remains, sand them down, re-paint and add a new clear coat.

So my question is...

Would putting paint stripper on the rims of my xj to remove the clear coat so I can give it a nice new look work? Or does anyone have a reason this would be a bad ideas?

Paint stripper may remove the powder coating clear and color coats. You may have to use aircraft stripper. Stripper won't hurt the bare aluminum if you wash it off promptly.

I would have the rims bead blasted by a shop.

Thats the goal, the current clear coating is flaking off and the rims look terrible as is. So I wanted to remove what is left of it, put on new primer, paint and clear. I just wasnt sure if paint stripper would wreck the rims or anything.
