I kinda like the looks of that Cherokee 2500. Almost like a more modern looking/higher class Cherokee. I like the projection headlights and the grill too, not to mention the wood grain dash trim. The Super Cherokee looks kinda old school, but I like the double spoke wheels it has.
Next question....where do I get a front end conversion? ![]()

Looks like the pre-99 Grand Cherokee grill with some Euro-rice lights slapped onto a Cherokee - Ugly.
You can convert currency at http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/index.html?topnav=front on the left handside. |

How do you like the "stairs/entrenchment" aspect of its abilities?
2.5L and 5-speed only. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

What the heck, other countries can make the Cherokee. America's first SUV was the Cherokee and they stopped making it, how patriotic. They deffinatley need to have a new XJ roll off the lines next year.

I hate to keep posting BUT anyone notice the roof on the Super Cherokee? Looks like added headroom. Doesn't matter to me I'm only 5'7 but it looks ok.

Yeah, the head room thing is compared to the way the Land Rover Discoverys are designed, kinda a bubble top.

They have been making those Cherokees for a few years, ever since DC sold them the tooling to produce them. This probably happened in 97 - 98 because it is the old body style (look at the pic) and I think they got DC's hand-me-downs when they changed to the 97+ body style. The Chinese have made some changes like the raised roof and I believe it is slightly longer as well.
People have discussed importing them but it pretty much won't happen. If you want one you'll have to buy one and ship it here (if thats possible).

Depending on the clean air laws there, it may be a huge headache trying to bring one over and convert it to US emissions standards.

A major turn-off (to me at least) for those is the 2.5L.
The exterior is good looking, except for the tail lights (similar to the Liberty) and that front end. |

The Chinese like the smaller engines, huh? They should at least allow an optional 4.0 L straight-6 engine upgrade. Yeah, I wonder why they keep producing the cherokee, but our own country won't. The liberty is a nice SUV, but doesn't chrysler care about the classic cherokee anymore? I think they should bring it back. I feel that alot of people would be willing to buy the cherokee over the fancy liberty. I, for one, wouldn't mind buying a brand new 2004 cherokee 4x4. That would be awesome! You can never replace an american classic.
