One Wheel Peel getting worse I think, I need a fix.

So I hate the one wheel peel. I get the wheel spinning all the time when its raining and I stop befor making a corner, unless I am real easy on the gas i get spin. And while this isnt all that big a deal it makes it very hard to merge with traffic when a wheel just wants to spin.
In the winter I would just get pissed off and pull it into 4wd even while the engine was still revved to 4500 because of the wheel spining without me wanting it to.

I have to crack the back open to have the carrier bearings or pilot bearing or something replaced, and figured this would be the best time to put a posi in the rear. But what one do I get?

My offroading consists of roads a minivan can follow on, and the city really. So I dont need an air locker or something like that.

I drove a Camaro SS through 3 winters, and I would take the SS over the jeep in the winter any day of the week just for the lsd in the rear.

Something I could do on my own would be the best, and the most cost effective would be nice too.

Thanks in advance

Get a set of decent tires. That will take care of it.

OK, put put a locker in and spin both of them instead of one.

well a locker wouldnt be good, but an lsd.

The tires are good, certainly not bad enough to have it spin so easy.

Well dont take off so fast and they wont spin.. I mean really ive had all diffrent kinds of cars and a number of jeeps and any vehicle will do that in those conditions you just have to adjust your driving style for it. Also "drove a Camaro SS through 3 winters, and I would take the SS over the jeep in the winter any day of the week just for the lsd in the rear" Are You kidding you would rather driver a V8 rwd camaro over a 4wd jeep in the winter ??? I have a mustang and id drive my jeep over it any day of the week in poor conditions camaros/mustangs are sleads!!! If it really bothers you that mutch put LSD in it that way they both spin and you can go sideways.

Yes I would take the V8 RWD over the 4x4 jeep any day of the week, the only time I would like the jeep more is when the snow is too deep for the camaro. And when its snowing like that I dont go out anyways.

with the lsd both wheels will want to spin, giving twice the traction.
I can get off the accelorator enough to keep wheel spin under control with both wheels pushing, but when only one is doing the work merging is damn near impossible. if it was awd it would be different, but the part time just binds without dirt or snow underneath.

What lsd is the best? and any that are easy enough to install on my own?
the detroit locker is the clicky one when turning isnt it? and not so recomended for dialy driving.

I used to spin very often in my rock hard Goodyear Wranglers but when I got my Bridgestone Revo A/Ts I stopped spinning. The Goodyears spun in the rain above 2000 RPM in first gear, the Revos hold tight till that max I even bring it to, 4000.

I hate to say it but as posted before, part of your problem is the tires. They may be new but that line of tire is know to have very poor traction in the rain. Getting an LSD is a good idea but your still going to spin the tires all the time.

Just a thought......................are your tires Over-inflated? What PSI are you running?

Thank you. You explained in more detail than I did. My thoughts exactly.

Sell the jeep and buy some kind of kia AWD suv....

Or put big enough tires on without regearing to where your lead foot wont put all that much torque to the wheels...you can drive a 2wd pick up in the snow...you just have to know the vehciles characteristics.

fix: check tire pressures/get better tires and get your foot out of the gas pedal.
